Get ready, neighbor
Alright, super quick, wtf is Irvington Ready?
We’re a fledging group of preparedness-minded community members, focused on block-level medical training, disaster leadership, and emergency communication infrastructure.
We’re neighbors, in Portland, Oregon.
Programs
Bloc Captain
Bloc Captains help their neighbors be better prepared.
They organize their block by holding occasional meetings, schedule trainings, and maintain a radio connected to Irvington NET.
Irvington NET
Portland’s NET program uses FEMA training and resources to support a team of volunteer first-responders.
Irvington’s NET team is actively recruiting new members, and we’d love to meet you!
You don’t need to have any prior experience or training.
Irvington Mesh
Irvington Mesh is our very own communication network that operates without grid power or cell networks. IM is supported by small mesh radios that we procure, install, and maintain; all around Irvington.
Today, IM allows anyone with a low-cost mesh communicator to text back and forth with their neighborhood in an emergency, and will be triple-redundant by Summer 2026.
OK SO, WHAT DOES IRVINGTON READY ACTUALLY DO?
We help neighbors plan for small emergencies and big disasters
We maintain an off-grid communication network
We organize training, like Stop the Bleed
We procure and distribute gear
We lead workshops, and
We provide workbooks
Every month we send out a short update to our team about local trainings near Irvington, events, and ways to get more prepared.
